Hallo und Willkommen zum zweiten Teil der Friends Serie auf Freizeitglauben….Vermont ist Yair Etziony, lebt in Tel Aviv und veröffentlicht unter Pseudonymen wie Faction und Basic Unit
seit 2004. Basic Unit ist Yair und sein Partner Shlomi Avni (DJ Sola). Yair’s Releases auf Labels wie Mille Plateaux oder Neo Quija sind wohl eher dem Electronica Dub Bereich zuzuschreiben,
Yair gibt hier sein 4/4 Debüt. “Togo” ist Schnörkellos sehr eingängig und treibend. Die Cowbells und Percussionspads bestimmen den Charakter des Tracks. Der Break klingelt uns dann fast in
Hypnose mit seinen Cuts und anschwellenden Bells. Reminizenzen an diverse Lateinamerikanische Produktionen sind hier zu vernehmen.
“Spirit of Florentin” setzt dagegen mehr auf die klassischen Dubelemente, etwas Verträumt, Wehleidig und Deep.
Auf der B Seite nimmt Andre Gardeja nur die notwendigsten Elemente von Togo, packt einige Vocalsnips hinzu und überlässt dem Groove den Flow. Als kleines Bonbon gibt es zum Digital Release den Bonustrack “ Summer is Over” on Top.
